Took a little detour in the updates last week as I shared random memories from our trip. You see, those little tidbits and moments are the things I want to remember most when all of this becomes a distant memory. Since I’m using this blog as a journal of sorts, it was important for me to share.

Now, allow me to tell you about New Mexico!

This was my first visit to New Mexico. Brian went skiing in Taos in the spring of 2014 and immediately fell in love with it. Since then, he’s talked about moving there and I was always like, “Oh yeah, yeah, yeah… Whatever… One of these days.”

Since “one of these days” and the real possibility of relocating has arrived, I was anxiously looking forward to this segment of our journey.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve always imagine New Mexico to be desert. You know, cactus, sand, Bugs Bunny making the wrong turn in Albuquerque. You get the point.

Those of you who know me can well imagine that this caused a bit of panic and concern that I would HATE this place that Brian fell in love with at first sight. Me? I NEED green.. Trees… Hills… Grass…. Something more than desert for as far as the eye can see!

I kept saying, “I just don’t think it’s going to be greeeeeeen enough for me.” (Yes, add a little whiny voice in there).

As we headed south, approaching the state line, I committed to having an open mind, allowing Brian to have his moment in the sun and attempt to convince me that I should love it there too.

As we rolled on through the northern part of the state, I was pleasantly surprised by the landscape. It. Was. Green. With hills! Rolling hills and lush forests!

What? This isn’t the New Mexico of my imagination!

We began to snake up through another mountain pass and I couldn’t wait to see the view from the top.

When we got there, this is what we saw…

I met New Mexico with tears in my eyes and burning hot hands. This may sound like an allergic reaction, but to me, this was a very good sign. I am a Reiki practitioner and quite sensitive to the energy of the people and the environment surrounding me. Burning hot Reiki hands are a good sign indeed.

Turns out, it was love at first sight for me as well.

The Land of Enchantment is enchanting, surprising, green… Spectacular.
