The Adventure Begins!

5:00 a.m. came a little too quickly for my liking this morning. We quickly showered, packed up the Subaru with bikes, snacks and kids and said our sad goodbyes to the Anderson side of the family.

Ok, I was the sad one, the rest of the gang was raring to go.

setting off

We hit the road at 6:13 a.m.

Deke’s plan was to dance across each state line. His mind changed quickly when we got to West Virginia and tractor trailers whizzed past at a ridiculous rate. So we did the best we could. Oh, and we totally missed the “Welcome to Indiana” sign.

state lines... minus Indiana

We pulled into our hotel this evening in Collinsville, IL (just east of St. Louis) nearly 12 hours after setting out this morning.

The boys have done some damage on the snack supply and I have threatened that tomorrow is a fruit and veggies ONLY day. They are currently blowing off some steam in the pool as I distractedly update all of you 🙂

super travelers!

Tomorrow we have tickets to the St. Louis arch and then will continue west, stopping for the night in Hays, KS.

Until then, carry on!

Looks like a great adventure so far–but you missed the Indiana sign??? Poor Indiana never gets any love…
But I do have good news, we’ve actually stayed in Hays before for our anniversary, because it’s just that cool of a town. 😉 Anyhow, I wanted to let you know that they do have a great brew pub there–Gella’s Diner & Lb Brewing Co–if you are looking for a place to nosh and have an adult beverage.

    Cheers to you all!

Hahaha! I know, can you believe it??? Deke got a quick picture of it (with his finger blocking part of it). I was busy on yelp looking for a place to eat lunch. Go figure.

Thanks for the tip on the brew pub in Hays! Of course we’ll check it out 🙂

You know them well, Diane! They get 5 stars for their patience and travel behavior, even with an excess of junk food 🙂 blazing the trail!

Thanks, Sherri! It’s fun to share our adventure, almost like having you all here with us 🙂 the Arch was really cool — too tired to update with a post last night. Colorado bound today! Give Kenny a birthday kiss from me. xoxo
